Make magic spray universal cleaner with or without Thermomix

Dieser Universalreiniger ist wirklich ein kleines Zauberspray. Aus einfachen Hausmitteln hergestellt lässt sich mit ihm fast der gesamte Haushalt reinigen.

A friend of mine told me a few weeks ago about a so-called magic spray or miracle spray that she makes with her Thermomix. This spray is a universal and very effective cleaning agent. I tested it and I’m thrilled! It is made from simple means and has many advantages.

In this article, I present the recipe for this universal cleaner and instructions on how you can make it with or without the Thermomix.

Benefits of the Magic Spray

You can use the all-purpose cleaner for everything in the kitchen, in the bathroom or even for wiping floors. It is particularly impressive when wiping tiles and removing grease and traces of lime. The other advantages are:

  • Simply made from home remedies that you should have in the household anyway
  • Less expensive than most conventional cleaners
  • Eco-friendly thanks to simple ingredients and the reduction in packaging waste
  • You can tailor the recipe to your individual needs

Ingredients needed

Below I list the ingredients needed. The quantities are tailored to the capacity of the Thermomix and result in a total of two liters of cleaning agent. If you want to test the recipe first, you can of course halve or quarter the quantities.

If your water is very hard, increase the amount of vinegar or vinegar essence a little so that the cleaner later works optimally.

The use of essential oils is always a matter of taste. Eucalyptus smells good and is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal at the same time, excellent properties for a household cleaner. However, there are other oils with similar properties that you might prefer. Tea tree oil is also very suitable, or a mixture of different oils, such as lavender, tangerine or orange.

You can find out more about the properties of many essential oils and their areas of application here.

Make the magic spray in the Thermomix

This recipe is becoming increasingly popular with Thermomix users and I must confess it is very easy to make with the built in scale, stirrer and cooking function. However, you can easily prepare the recipe in a saucepan or other food processor. You can find instructions on how to do this below.

Needed time: 5 minutes.

This is how the magic spray is made with the Thermomix:

  1. Apply magic spray

Boil soda with 250 ml water in the Thermomix on gentle stirring setting.

  2. Add more ingredients

Add dish soap and essential oils and mix on speed four for five seconds. Slowly and carefully add the vinegar essence or table vinegar (because of possible foam formation).

  3. Dilute concentrate

Fill up the resulting concentrated magic spray mixture with water to two liters. Blend again on speed four for five seconds.

Your magic spray is ready, which you can fill into used spray bottles from the old cleaner. For some applications, such as in cleaning water, simple bottles are sufficient for storage.

Prepare magic spray without Thermomix

Of course, this cleaner can also be produced without the all-rounder from Vorwerk. All you need is a large enough pot and a large whisk.

Here’s how you do it:

1. Add 30g of plain soda (75g of crystal soda) to the saucepan with 250ml of water

2. Stir and bring to a boil briefly

3. Remove pot from heat

4. Add 50g dish soap and essential oils and stir

5. Pour 60 ml of vinegar essence or 300 ml of table vinegar into the saucepan (slowly because of possible foaming) and keep stirring

6. Pour in 1.5 to 1.75 liters of water and mix thoroughly again

7. Pour the finished cleaner into suitable containers

Application of the magic spray

Label your bottles with names and dates to avoid any confusion and keep out of the reach of children.

You should always shake this cleaner well before use.

If you use it as a spray, simply spray some on the surfaces to be cleaned and wipe off with a cloth or sponge. For heavy soiling, leave it on for a few minutes to half an hour. So you can clean almost all surfaces well. This includes chrome fittings, tiles, tile joints, toilet, bathtub, sink, shower, and kitchen appliances such as dishwashers, ovens or other food processors.

For stubborn dirt and burned-on dirt in the oven or in pans, we recommend using it in combination with the homemade scouring powder.

The spray can also be used to pretreat stubborn stains on clothing. Don’t use it on animal-based materials like wool and silk, however, since soda ash swells the fibers. For this purpose, treatment with a special delicates and wool detergent is recommended.

You can also quickly and easily clean things like garden furniture or car rims with the magic spray.

You shouldn’t use it on natural stone floors and you should also be careful on laminate, cork and real wood, as it can lighten the material.

I add about 15ml of the liquid to my mop water and am completely amazed by the cleaning power and scent in my house. In addition, the otherwise usual streaks have completely failed to materialize and my tiles sparkle.

Please note, however, that you should avoid excessive skin contact when wiping, as the agent degreases the skin greatly, which is very unpleasant afterwards. Users therefore prefer gloves.
